Is there a need for a Censor Board approval before any locally made teledrama is allowed to be broadcast over any television network?
I am aware that all films have to go through such a process before being allowed to go public.
They will be graded according to the contents and based on the rating only they are allowed to be shown publically.
A few nights ago, I saw one tele-drama in one of the national television network and in which one person was threatening his fiancé / wife / mistress or whatever you want to call her that he will set fire to the house following morning, if the woman does not agree to his request, which was what I have no clue of.
This is the prime time and most kids watch televisions after attending to their online classes and allowing such contents to be broadcast when most kids are watching is a crime.
Some might argue that that is was only in a teledrama.
But what happens here is allowing such brash threats to be made freely will give a notion to formatting minds of the kids that such behavior in public or private is acceptable and should also be tolerated too in real life, especially to girls.
I have seen on many social media platforms that some are voicing to ban imported and dubbed foreign dramas citing that they will harm our cultural values.
But looking at most of the tele-dramas being shown on all networks, I thinking locally made ones are the ones need to be scrutinized and not others as they are extremely poor in plots and technical details.
If you want to see what I emphasis, watch ගමනේ යා next weekend.
